Jeni - "Wildfire" (SBTRKT ft. Drake & Little Dragon Cover)

Voici un des rare remix pour "Wildfire" de SBTRKT que l'on vous partage, mais il a le mérite de valoir sérieusement le détour. Je vénère l'original comme le Graal (le Graal s'écoute ici), et ce remix est autant une bonne occasion de réécouter la version de SBTRKT que de s'éclater un peu avec une version plus chill (catégorie décidément un peu trop conséquente sur ce blog...).

Ce que j'aime dans cette version, un peu longue à venir (c'est vrai, je l'admets), c'est que Jeni a su garder la grande simplicité initiale de cette track. L'originale est uniquement basée sur une petite basse groovy, drôlatique par sa sonorité un peu burlesque, et ambivalente parce que la basse, dans sa grande simplicité, est d'une grande capacité évocative (tout en restant groovy) : ce côté loufoque, comme celui d'un pantin désarticulé, lui donne autant un côté comique que bouffon et par conséquent légérement tragique. Cette ambivalence, c'est la grosse richesse de cette track : il y a un truc, mais c'est difficile de mettre des mots dessus.

Résultat ? À l'écoute, vous êtes fascinés, captivés, et finalement complétement séduits.

Mais dans le remix de Jeni, le burlesque disparait, et elle met en valeur plus l'innocence, ce qui finalement colle assez bien à cette chanson quand on jette un coup d'oeil au texte. Ca élude le problème de l'ambivalence, mais pourquoi pas, un peu de sérénité c'est bien aussi, le texte est suffisamment évocateur comme ça.

Je vous invite donc à réécouter ou à absolument écouter l'original si vous ne l'avez pas déjà fait, avant de vous faire plaisir avec cette version ou la basse que je trouvais un peu blagueuse devient un élément dans l'esprit r&b. Décidément, avec une bonne basse, on peut TOUT faire.
